On the northern part of Karnataka's western coast lies the tranquil village town of Kaup. Its clay-tiled houses, many of them appearing abandoned, line the shore, their windows shielded by dried coconut leaves, a testament to the local fishermen's traditional lifestyle rooted in Tulu and Kannada culture. Despite the relentless humidity and heat, the soothing sights and sounds of the sea offer respite from the bustle of larger cities. Kaup boasts a historic landmark in its fully operational lighthouse, erected in 1901, drawing tourists for weekend getaways. Through this photo series, I aim to capture the essence of life in Kaup, showcasing its serene coastal charm and the enduring traditions of its inhabitants.
